Dubai: There is no need to create a window in the International Cricket Council?s (ICC) Future Tours Programme (FTP) to accommodate the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL), said IPL chairman Lalit Modi today. 'There is no need to create such a window as a natural window already exists," Modi said, putting an end to all speculations about the need for such a window for cricket?s revolutionary event. "None of the cricketing nations, except for England, has any tours planned under the ICC?s current FTP at the time when the IPL is held," he added. The inaugural IPL this year was held from end of April till the beginning of June. Players from all ICC full members, except England, played for various franchised teams in the event which was seen as exceptionally successful. ICC acting chief executive Dave Richardson had on Thursday said that no decision was taken by ICC, during the course of its annual conference in Dubai, for creating a window in the FTP to fit in the IPL. "The ICC has not received any official request from the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) as of now for creating such a window," he said. "No decision has been made on creating such windows as of now," he added. However, he stated that when the ICC developed a new model for its next FTP - after the current FTP ends in May 2012 - there would be ample scope for creating such a window. (IANS)
